Showers and a few thunderstorms will impact the area throughout this Friday. No severe storms are expected, though. Be sure to give yourself a few extra minutes on the roads.

Showers began moving in this morning, and will become more widespread around 8 a.m. Lighter showers will likely be off-and-on throughout the morning and midday, around the lunch hour.

We’ll likely dry out a bit around 4 p.m., but a line of showers and storms will be developing to our northwest at that time.

This afternoon will be cloudy and mild with highs in the low 70s. We’ll still be in and out of showers and non-severe storms then. That line could have a few pockets of heavy downpours.

The line of showers will become more organized as it moves into Metro Detroit, pushing through Washtenaw, Oakland and Lapeer counties around 8 p.m. The line will sink into the east and southeast through about 10 p.m. or 11 p.m.

Tonight’s sunset is at 8:36 p.m.

Most of the wet weather should push out by midnight.

Weekend stays warm with some rain chances

Expect a nice forecast for the University of Michigan’s spring commencement ceremony at the Big House on Saturday!

We’ll take the 70-degree temperatures with us through the weekend.
