Community leaders join Church of the Messiah for 15th annual Silence The Violence march in Detroit
The 15th annual Silence The Violence march and rally returns this weekend after a hiatus due to the pandemic. Community activists, elected officials, and organizations from across the state will join Church of the Messiah Saturday (June 4) to march in remembrance of gun violence victims.
Public viewing for Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon to be held Monday
DETROIT โ Beloved Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon will be laid to rest this week. Napoleon died from complications related to COVID-19 Dec. 17. A public viewing will be held Monday at the Swanson Funeral Home on East Grand Boulevard in Detroit from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.Services will be held Tuesday at the Greater Grace Temple on Seven Mile Road from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The family will have its own private service. A live stream of the event will be available on the Swanson Funeral Home site.
Detroit police search for missing 73-year-old man
DETROIT โ Detroit police are seeking the publicโs help in locating 73-year-old Birdie Flowers, who was last seen at about 3:22 p.m., Thursday in the area of East Grand Boulevard and Gratiot Avenue. Police said Flowersโ caretaker drove him to the bank but he did not come back to the vehicle. Flowers is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall. His caretaker reported that he suffers from memory loss. Crews battle apartment fire on Detroits east side
DETROIT Crews battled an apartment fire on Detroits east side on Wednesday evening. It happened in the are of East Grand Boulevard and Agnes. Officials said the apartment building had 75 units and 15 of them were occupied. Officials aid the fire started in an unoccupied unit. Click here fore more reports
